About Marymount University

Marymount University is a coeducational, four-year Catholic university with the main campus located in Arlington County, which is situated in the Commonwealth of Virginia, housing a number of approximately 210 000 residents, within its limits.

The university was established in 1950 and was founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), as Marymount College, a two-year women's school, becoming a 4-year college, in 1973, achieving university status in 1986, when it also became fully co-ed.

MU, as the university is also referred to, offers its students undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide array of disciplines, the university being `a dynamic learning community where you will gain valuable knowledge and skills in a challenging, yet supportive, atmosphere.`

Athletics

MU's athletic teams are known as the Saints and they compete in NCAA Division III, in the Capital Athletic Conference. Their distinctive colors are royal blue and white.
